I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was ten. My mum became concerned when I was still having difficulties with reading and writing. I often appeared to lose attention and was unable to concentrate when reading an article or studying. I was also a daydreamer and was often on a different planet when my teacher was explaining things. Not knowing what was wrong, I learned about studying the hard way. I always told people that I’ve a very bad memory and wasn’t good at school. My mother was a strong believer in the importance of persistence in the face of challenges. She believed every one is smart, but some children have learning differences. With every mistake or bad thing that might happen in our lives, there’s always, an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow. My mum got me the help I needed and I know there is help for everyone out there. Everyone learns differently.
